Meet Dr. VoldDr. Steven Vold is an award-winning, board-certified ophthalmologist based in Northwest Arkansas with over 24 years of experience. As an innovative vision professional in the industry, he specializes in complex glaucoma and cataract diagnosis and treatment, as well as groundbreaking laser vision correction treatments. Dr. Vold is known for his p ion and dedication to his patients, and strives to make every patient comfortable and happy with their results. Listed in the Consumer’s Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Ophthalmologists consistently since 2002, Dr. Vold is proud to be considered one of the leading professionals in the industry. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Editor of Glaucoma Today, the leading national publication for physicians, and co-founded the American-European Congress of Opthalmic Surgery. He also publishes distinguished journal articles, lectures on the latest techniques, and is frequently written about in the press for his groundbreaking procedures and research. Dr. Vold co-founded Ocunetics, Inc., a Silicone Valley-based medical device company. His invention was recently licensed and fully funded by IRIDEX Corporation, a well-established and reputable publicly traded ophthalmic company. His has been instrumental in the development of numerous other products that are now on the market based on his creative efforts.Specialties and SkillsWith a wide range of skills, Dr. Vold is known as an innovator in the ophthalmology field. While he focuses on complex glaucoma and small-incision cataract surgery, he is also skilled in diagnosing and treating many other eye diseases. He is an expert in laser vision correction surgery and was the first eye surgeon in the state of Arkansas to offer SMILE, advanced laser treatment. Dr. Vold is particularly skilled in laser retina surgery, refractive surgery, cataract surgery with lens replacement operations, glaucoma drainage and filtration, and implant surgery. His practice also offers intraocular lens surgery and bladeless corneal refractive surgery. Always pushing for better, faster results, Dr. Vold was the first surgeon in the country to perform a variety of advanced procedures, including new, noninvasive glaucoma and laser correction surgeries.Education and TrainingWith an academic record as illustrious as his professional one, Dr. Vold has distinguished himself at every level of his career. Graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota with a major in Biology, Dr. Vold went on to the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis. Here, he graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a group that recognizes the top ten percent of medical students in the nation. Afterwards, he completed an ophthalmology residency and a glaucoma fellowship at the Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. With numerous scholarships and academic awards, Dr. Vold has held himself to the highest of standards throughout his education and beyond.Professional MembershipsDr. Vold has memberships in many professional groups that contribute to the quality of his career. McFarland, is one of the two leading practitioners at the Bentonville and Fayetteville locations of Vold Vision in Northwest Arkansas. With years of experience in research and treatment, particularly in the area of glaucoma care, patients feel safe in his dedicated hands. When Dr. McFarland is not practicing at Vold Vision or working on his Master’s degree, he can be found golfing, fishing, working out, or spending time with his wife and sons. Dr. Laura Voicu, Ophthalmologist

Dr. Laura A. Voicu is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Vold Vision with a focus in minimally invasive treatments for numerous eye diseases.

Meet Dr. VoicuDr. Laura A. Voicu, board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in the diagnosis and management of disorders of the cornea, external and ocular surface disease including dry eye,  as well as glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Voicu has completed fellowship training in dry eye and cornea as well as glaucoma. Other areas of focus for Dr. Voicu are the treatment of eye disease in underserved populations and the use of technology to improve access and quality of eye care. Dr. Voicu joins Vold Vision in Northwest Arkansas after her education at Duke University Eye Center and the Doheny and Jules Stein UCLA Centers.Specialties and SkillsDr. Voicu provides cornea and external disease care, from the treatment of dry eye and infections to eye surgery. Dr. Voicu performs many treatments for the cornea, including full thickness corneal transplantation, partial thickness corneal transplants (DSAEK), and the newest, thinnest cornea transplant available (DMEK). She enjoys helping patients restore their vision with cataract surgery and she has a special interest in complex cataract procedures and laser- isted cataract surgery. Dr. Voicu focuses on the management of complex cases involving corneal disease and glaucoma. She also performs bladeless corneal refractive surgery, such as LASIK. Education and TrainingDr. Voicu has extensive medical training in the intricacies of cornea and glaucoma disease. As a graduate of New York University's Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she has continuously earned multiple scholarships and academic awards. After completing an internship in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, she continued her training with a residency at the Duke University Eye Center in North Carolina. She was then honored to be elevated to the role of Chief Resident. Next, she finished a fellowship in corneal and ocular surface diseases at Doheny UCLA Eye Center in Pasadena, California. Dr. Voicu then  completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Jules Stein-UCLA  Center in Los Angeles. Other service includes providing eye care in Mexico City with SalaUno Eye Clinic and in Rwanda with the Himalayan Cataract Project.
