♥ facebook page ♥ ♥ other art ♥  thanks for visiting! have fun! hello! sorry i’m breaking a 4 year hiatus to announce i won’t be on tumblr anymore but i’m still making art! patreon is empowering a new generation of creators. support and engage with artists and creators as they live out their pas*ions! inst one of your drawings the home bu*ton on grimes art website????? im new to illustrator, do you know any good video tutorials for learning the basics? hi there! i had a look around for you (most video tuts are actually pretty bad, haha) but i found this gem realllyyy nice tutorial to get you into illustrator basics and it’s a fun beginner project. enjoy! i have been asked by a few people to post wips of my work so here’s a “tutorial” of sorts to give you an idea of how i make my 2. i take my sketch into illustrator and vector a solid, darker, block of colour, this is the lineart. i then vector another block of colour on top. i don’t use st*okes or effects on any of my art, the colour and lineart are all vectored individually.  3. wireframe of my vectors. i switch wireframe on and off constantly while i work so i can view the sketch underneath. 4. doing more complicated shapes like hair take a lot of time. i block in the shape first to make sure it has a good, strong silhouette 5. filling in more details…as you can see, i’ve completely changed the hands from the sketch haha. a lot of tweaking happens in 6. starting to fill the hair in, lots of layers and repositioning stuff. 7. adding more details. i like framing my pictures so that nothing is cut off in the image as my backgrounds are usually transparent. you can see i was originally going to have the cat in the background, in the sketch, but i decided it made the final composition too tall. last steps i forgot to screencap but i add a gradient in the hair, take the image into photoshop, tweak colours, mess around with it a revisited this pic i made like a year ago and fixed it halloween soon ♥
