WELCOME TO WILD DIVERSITY! OUTDOOR ADVENTURES FOR BIPOC & LGBTQ COMMUNITIES. Wild Diversity is a project that elevates people of color & the queer community in the outdoors. We also offer resources to queer, minority and low income youth. We are here to provide a safe and welcoming space for our community to explore outdoor adventures in the Pacific Join Portland Audubon expert birders Greg Smith and Candace Larson on a 3-hour birdwatching excursion on beautiful Sauvie Island, where we will seek out a diverse array of wintering waterfowl, raptors, cranes and songbirds. We'll make multiple stops in various habitats as we learn the basics of bird ecology and identification. Beginners welcome, binoculars available! Bird Watch Location: Sauvie's Island Meeting Location: Leaven Community Center You’ll Need to Bring: - Dress similar for a hike: hiking boots, warm layers, rain As a part of the BIPOC or LGBTQ communities, we invite you to un-learn everything you have experienced with climbing culture and be a part of building a community centered around you. Let’s create something new, foster an environment of learning, and climb! What You’ll Need to Bring: Any personal gear you prefer.  Register so we know you are coming. Donate at the door, pay online There is so much beauty in the winter season, its time to breakout of your den and see for yourself! This Snow Camping trip will be a fun fill weekend of creating, exploring and building. We will snowshoe in about a mile with our gear loaded onto pulks (sleds for hauling gear). We will build a variety of snow shelters igloos, dugloos and snow trenches for our night in the snow. Yes, we are sleeping on the snow! You will also learn basic backcountry camping and cooking techniques. Friday Evening: We will meet & greet; pack our gear and put our pulks together. No overnight on Friday. Saturday Morning: We will return and set out to Wy'east for our overnight adventure. This trip is a great opportunity for all experience levels to enjoy snow camping and gain knowledge and confidence. This event is open to
